Resident Summer Staff
About 40 high school and college students (must be as least 16 years old) are hired each year to live and work on Shocco’s campus for 9-10 weeks during the summer. Summer staffers provide essential services for our guests, and also participate in worship, Bible study, recreation, and mission trips throughout the summer. Summer staffers receive hourly pay and typically work 30 to 40 hours per week. Shocco provides free room and board and meals (when serving) for all resident summer staffers. Additional benefits include close friendships, job experience and the joy of serving others.
Summer Staffers may be hired to serve in the following departments:
Event Services– Responsibilities include cleaning windows, setting up rooms, operating video/sound equipment, vacuuming and assisting with a variety of other services we provide for guests.
Guest Relations– Responsibilities include meeting the needs of guests, communicating in person, phone & email, office tasks and more.
Lodging Services– Responsibilities includes making beds, cleaning carpets and windows, vacuuming, washing and folding linens and performing other essential cleaning services.
Recreation– Responsibilities include facilitation of High and Low Rope Challenges, Paintball, Bazooka Ball & any other recreation services.
Lifeguard– Red Cross certified lifeguards supervise water and recreation activities to ensure the safety of guests. Lifeguards maintain the swimming pool, courts and lakefront areas.
Food Service– Responsibilities include coordinating preparation and clean-up for every meal in each of our three dining rooms.
Bookstore– Responsibilities include serving guests with merchandise selection, process transactions, stock shelves, clean store and more.
