Building Challenge

Building challenges provide participants with hands-on opportunities to problem-solve, collaborate, and create solutions under time constraints. Through brainstorming and teamwork, groups will be tasked with building one of the options listed below. These activities encourage and reinforce productive teamworking skills while fostering creativity and critical thinking throughout the problem-solving process.

Build-a-Boat

Teams are challenged to design and construct a boat using limited materials and a set amount of time. Creativity, resourcefulness, and teamwork are essential as participants work together to plan, build, and test their creation. Once complete, the boats are put to the ultimate test—will they float, hold weight, or even race across the water? This fun and dynamic challenge strengthens problem-solving skills, encourages collaboration, and highlights the importance of innovation.  (Note: some participants may get wet)

• $11 per person for 1.5 hours (9:00am – 6:00pm)
• 10 person minimum – 50 person maximum
• Ages 10 and up
• Available April – October (weather permitting)

Build-a-Bridge

Teams are tasked with constructing a bridge using limited materials within a set amount of time.  There is only one correct way for the bridge to be assembled and any alternate construction of the bridge will not be permitted for crossing.  All materials provided to the team must be utilized.  The first team to assemble the bridge properly and send a team member across will win the challenge.  Success requires strong communication, strategic planning and critical thinking.   

• $11 per person for 1.5 hours (9:00am – 6:00pm)
• 10 person minimum – 50 person maximum
• Ages 12 and up
• Available all year (weather permitting)

Build-a-Plane

Teams are challenged to design and build a plane using only the provided materials within a set amount of time. Creativity and problem-solving come into play as groups brainstorm, plan, and construct their aircraft. Once complete, the planes are put to the test in a flight competition to see which design travels the farthest, stays in the air the longest, or lands most accurately. This high-energy challenge encourages teamwork, innovation, and adaptability while adding a fun competitive edge.

• $18 per person for 1.5 hours (9:00am – 6:00 pm)
